Foel Ortho: Fri, 10th Feb 2012 - Sun, 12th Feb 2012
For those that like their waterfalls high, their madding crowds far, and the vowels even farther from what seems sensible, this by-passed mountain range in north east Wales is for you. Nearby Pistyll Rhaeadr is the tallest waterfall in Wales. The area as a whole is one of the least densely populated regions, and most visitors head further west leaving the 800m+ Berwyns with, as one blog post puts it, "very little people". Rest assured, an Ibex meal will bulk you up. We are also looking into the possibility of a long mountain bike bash across to Llyn Vyrynwy, so let us know if you want wheels in Wales. Foel Ortho is a warm & cozy bunkhouse featuring a great drying room, comfy bunk beds, DVD, music player & well equipped modern kitchen, 2 big showers, 2 loos, 12 bunks and a quantity of follies. We'll also run a swear box for anyone who pronounces Foel as 'foil' :-)
